Field Sports Overview

Scotland is one of the most diverse countries when it comes to stalking and shooting in Europe.  The highlands at Tulchan-Glenisla offer the passionate sportsmen the best of both worlds.

Our main quarry is stalking red deer and the hills on Tulchan-Glenisla offer some of the best stalking Scotland has to offer. We stalk Red Stags from July 1st to October 20th.The last three weeks of the season are by far the most exciting as the rut is at its peak.

The Hind season begins on October 21st and lasts, depending on the weather, until December.

Stalking at Tulchan-Glenisla is an active sport. Long distances in difficult terrain can be part of your experience. We always discuss the physical abilities with our guests before the stalk to make sure you have an enjoyable stay.

We furthermore offer to combine stalking for Red Stags with Roebucks. Our roe deer population grew significantly over the last years and our sustainable management offers exciting sport on the open hill.

A typical day stalking begins at 9 AM at our shooting range. The guest and stalker ensure that the rifles are sighted in correctly.  The stalker then judges the weather conditions and the stalk in breathtaking scenery will begin. Lunch will be taken on the hill but a traditional tea-time will welcome you after your return to the lodge.

Besides our red and roe deer stalking we also offer quality game shooting on the estate. Our shooting year begins with the Glorious Twelfth at the Grouse. Grouse shooting in Scotland is some of the most sought after sport in the whole UK. In September we start shooting Partridges and in October the Pheasants come into season. Next to the game birds we also have sustainable populations of Rabbits and Blue Hares. On a classic day of rough shooting you can therefore expect to shoot different species of game. In the winter months we furthermore shoot Woodcock and Snipe.

The main sport at Tulchan is stalking red deer on the open hill. Earlier in the season combining Stag stalking with Roebucks is very exciting. During the shooting season we offer driven and walked-up shoots for Grouse, Partridge, Pheasant and Blue Hares.
